Serving Palm Beach Gardens

I have been a clinician for almost a decade and have had the privilege of serving diverse populations while treating various disorders including: Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, PTSD, Substance Abuse, etc.

I earned my Bachelor of Science from Florida State University, where I majored in Family and Child Sciences, and my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I have received formal training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and various other evidenced based treatment modalities.

I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with a lack of self-esteem, abandonment, generational trauma, anxiety, and depression. I absolutely love helping guide adolescents, adults, and families through life’s ever-changing journey with various skills and techniques I have learned and implemented throughout the years. My hope is that each person I work with discovers and embraces their true authentic self and experiences true happiness within. My main goal as a clinician is to form a strong therapeutic alliance in order to foster a safe environment to go below the surface and do deep healing work. My motto, “you can’t heal what you never reveal.”

I am also an advocate for self-care and enjoy writing poems, listening to music, going to the beach, spending time with loved ones, and playing with my adorable puppy Shadow.

Telehealth throughout the State of Florida

I work with people who feel overwhelmed by life and feel they have no control.

Sometimes they have difficulty making changes in their lives, despite numerous efforts in the past. You may feel disconnected from those around you and feel no one understands you or you don’t understand yourself.

Over the years, I realized that being a therapist was a perfect fit for me.

I love to help people reach their goals and learn to accept themselves by exploring behaviors that no longer serve them and heal from past trauma. Getting to see my clients grow and bloom and find their self-worth and value drives me each day in this work. When people heal from past trauma and develop a relationship with themself that is when change and growth happens. It’s a beautiful thing and truly a gift to witness that healing.

Specialties: Divorce, CPTSD, Narcissistic Abuse, Trauma, Anxiety, Codependency

Offering Virtual and In-Person Services

For parents and couples striving to nurture both their partnerships and their children, the journey can be beautiful, yet challenging. As a dedicated pre-licensed mental health therapist, I deeply understand the intricacies of co-parenting, the evolving stages of child development, and the dedication required to maintain a thriving relationship.

I received my master's degree from Nova Southeastern University and bring with me a wealth of experience from diverse clinical settings. While my primary focus has been addressing the mental health needs of children and adolescents aged 4 to 18, as well as young adults, I also understand the impact these stages have on family dynamics and relationships. Parenting, co-parenting, and maintaining a loving bond with your partner requires a deep understanding of these unique challenges.

Being a bilingual clinician fluent in both English and Spanish, I'm here to communicate and connect with couples and families from different cultural backgrounds. I offer a compassionate ear and tailored support for parents navigating through challenges such as divorce, behavioral difficulties of their children, or even their own relationship hurdles. Additionally, my expertise in areas such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery means that I approach every situation with holistic understanding and care.

I also facilitate a special group for teen girls aged 14 to 16, aiming to empower them in self-worth, body image, and healthy relationship building. I believe in providing safe spaces for open conversations – a philosophy that extends to my sessions with parents and couples. Additionally, I also serve as the President for the Mental Health Counselors Association of Palm Beach.

If you find yourself seeking guidance in nurturing your relationship while ensuring the well-being of your children, you don’t have to do it alone. Feel free to email or call for a free 30-minute phone consult.

Practicing in Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Deborah Beriro graduated summa cum laude with her Master of Science degree in Applied Psychology and Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University in Boca Raton FL, and received her B.A. degree from American University in Washington, D.C.  (International Studies and Art History.) Deborah is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and is licensed in the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Deborah uses an eclectic approach, as she has extensive trainings in multiple psychotherapeutic modalities. She believes every individual is different and she does not subscribe to "one size fits all” medical treatment approach.

Deborah’s training as a counselor began as a primary therapist in acute settings, including inpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers, where over time she worked in the whole spectrum of Substance Use Disorder (SUDs) treatment from detox, to inpatient, outpatient, families therapy and case management.

After years of working in acute SUDs settings, Deborah realized that her skills were better served in private practice. Her practice evolved as she worked with clients to discover the causes and conditions of their disorders and attendant issues. As a result of her training, Deborah helps uncover and heal family of origin issues and attachment disorders, works with families and offers relationship counseling. Deborah is highly skilled in working with disorders, such as mood disorders, that often accompany, are exacerbated by or are masked by substance abuse issues. Deborah is a trauma informed therapist.

Deborah uses DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Mindfulness approaches to help clients find relief from Depression, Anxiety, Mood disorders (e.g. Bipolar), Personality Disorders (e.g. Borderline PD) and attachment disorders, amongst others. Deborah helps families correct or avoid the co-dependent behaviors that accompany most related disorders of their loved ones. She enjoys helping clients, struggling from life transition, co-parenting/post divorce and spiritual issues, find relief and peace.

Deborah looks at the big picture when addressing clinical issues and is able to help by often thinking out of the box with her treatment approach.

She is fluent in Spanish, French and English.

Caring Therapists offers couples therapy and marriage counseling in Davie, Florida.  We utilize Gottman Couples Therapy as our modality to help couples repair their marriages and improve communication.

Relationship problems are common.  Every couple experiences them; however different couples cope with them differently. Some couples cope by yelling and screaming.  Other couples cope by withdrawing from each other and not addressing the problems.

One of the most common patterns we see in our office is where one partner wants to make things work and the other partner appears to be withdrawn from the relationship.  This leaves the person who wants to make it work feeling burnt out.

A lot of times, the individuals in the relationship have unspoken needs they haven’t really understood how to express.  It can be complicated to be in a relationship and maintain some sense of individuality. Many times, we find that couples need to learn to express their needs to their partners for the relationship to work.

When unmet needs go unexpressed, it can lead to things like infidelity, emotional affairs, addictions, constant fighting, and other unhealthy coping techniques.

From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a therapist. As an only child, I spent a lot of time around adults having grown-up conversations I was not able to participate in. I grew to be observant and a very good listener, because what else can you do if there’s nothing for you to contribute. It made me question why people acted the way they did. What motivated people to react in different ways? Why did people not notice patterns that were so obvious to me, even as a child? Eventually, I got older, and took an AP Psychology class in high school, and fell in love with the field. I knew I had a thirst for knowledge about human behavior and wanted to use what I would learn through my schooling to help others.

My own experience on the couch, as a client, awakened me to the power of having a safe space free of judgment and filled with compassion, where you are empowered to overcome your biggest fears. Sometimes you need someone to help you untangle the knots in your mind and heart. With their help, you are able to see things for what they are, clearly. You are then able to make thoughtful choices to craft the life you want. That’s the gift of therapy.

When I’m not in sessions you can often find me contributing to mental wellness or relationship articles, prepping for a podcast interview, putting together a presentation, and creating content for social media.

During my time off you can find me on my way to the airport, checking out new art galleries and museums, enjoying my happy place (the beach), having a nice meal with a loved one, practicing yoga, curled up with my weighted blanket reading a poetry book, or doing dog mom things with Soleil (my mini-Goldendoodle).

She works both with high needs patients, where she assists individuals coping with severe trauma, and at Living Well, where she offers a variety of services toward emotional and spiritual healing.

Kate is trained in advanced CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), the Gestalt method, internal family systems or “parts” work, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for post-traumatic stress disorder, and play therapy. Living Well has a play therapy room where Kate works with children facing adjustment disorders or otherwise responding to traumas like divorce, adoption, or abuse.

She is relatively new to the Jacksonville community, but she loves being near the beach and her nieces and nephews. Kate has a large and supportive family with whom she enjoys spending as much time as she can.
