My counseling style is grounded in the humanistic perspective. I believe that we all have the desire and ability to reach our full potential and that each person has their own vision of what that potential is for her or himself. My job is not to tell you what that is, but to be a guide on your journey to your ultimate destination. I use art and play based interventions in my practice to help you develop insight, awareness, and understanding about your experience and aide you in using that information to create lasting change in your life. I interweave important concepts from cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, gestalt, and solution-focused therapy paradigms as appropriate to your goals.

My work experience is highly varied and I have been fortunate to work in a myriad of therapeutic settings and programs providing therapy services to a wide range of individuals, which includes the following: community mental health; Pre-K through 12 therapeutic, alternative, and public education; complex medical; trauma focused; memory impairment; substance abuse; relationship difficulties; children & teens in crisis; family conflict; and with children and adults affected by autism spectrum disorders.

I am a graduate of Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and hold a Master’s Degree in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in art therapy. I am a Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist & Art Therapy Certified Supervisor (ATCB# 10-038) with the Art Therapy Credentials Board and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH#12643) and LMHC Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida. I am a member of the American Art Therapy Association, the Association for Play Therapy and formerly served as the Treasurer for the Florida Art Therapy Association. Recently, I contributed a chapter on Art Therapy to the text “Integrating Expressive Arts and Play Therapy: A Guidebook for Mental Health Practitioners and Educators,” co-authored chapter, with art therapist Rachel Brandoff, on Art Therapy Supervision to the text “Digital Art Therapy: Materials, Methods and Applications,” and co-authored a chapter on Museum Based Adolescent Art Therapy Group to develop affect regulation skills, with art therapist Angel Duncan, in the text “Creative Arts-Based Group Therapy with Adolescents: Theory and Practice“. When possible, I enjoy presenting, teaching, and training on the topics of art therapy and mental health both locally and nationally.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 15 years of experience providing individual, couple, and family therapy. Picking a therapist can be a difficult and overwhelming task. However, I can assure you that your experience working with me will be beneficial and easy. I believe that the most valuable interaction with a therapist is feeling heard. My goal is to provide you with techniques and coping skills to improve your life but also provide you a place where you valued and listened to. Offering you encouragement, support, and an elite level of professionalism will enhance your therapeutic experience and help you reach your goals.

My approach is simple and effective, solution-focused with Cognitive Behavioral interventions. My goal is to provide you with actual skills and tools that you can implement on your own in order to manage your anxiety. Whether it is related to a traumatic experience, an unhealthy relationship, or difficultly setting boundaries and accomplishing your own goals, together we will sort out the “mess” and correct the problem.

Problem Solving is not a flawless process. There are countless obstacles that can stand in our way. Your mindset and established attitudes can definitely be a barrier. Your mindset is your collection of thoughts and beliefs that shape your habits and affect how you think, feel, and what you do. While working together we will explore your thoughts and concerns and identify how you can challenge and gain control of your life and while reducing anxiety and conflict that you are experiencing.

I will offer you an à la carte type of service. Your therapy will be enjoyable and effective but most importantly individualized to you and your needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a technique that aims to improve mental health by focusing on challenges and changing unhelpful distortions and behaviors. It improves emotional regulation and develops personal coping strategies that targets problem-solving.

Luna Medina-Wolf is the owner of Helping Moon Counseling. What would Luna like you to know about her?

I am a licensed mental health counselor who works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing different obstacles that can cause high levels of emotional pain and anxiety. Some negative experiences arise from ineffective communication skills, substance abuse, trauma, school problems, and others that may contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, and more. I am passionate about helping people overcome traumatic experiences they experienced in their lives.

I continue my professional development with the American Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and Florida Counseling Association in order to bring the best and most current practices to my clients. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Master Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP). I have a strong background in working with individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, who have experienced trauma and those with disabilities. My love for my career and the compassion I possess for my clients make me an effective therapist.

My approach to counseling pulls from several theories. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) to process traumatic event. I also incorporate motivational approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as solution-focused and self-help resources. My therapeutic approach begins with exploring thoughts and feelings in a safe, and respectful environment, where everyone can feel appreciated and heard. I believe in providing clients with a holistic approach in improving their lives. In order to improve a lifestyle, you have to approach it from a mind, body, and spirit relationship. There is a strong relationship between these three components that affect well-being.

The goal of therapy is to help you find balance and clarity that includes your voice, the voice of your loved ones, and one that honors each individual’s hopes and dreams. I believe that change is possible and that each client has the power to learn the skills needed to better their lives.

I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.

I have been in practice for almost 20 years. I practiced in Fairfield County, CT for 15 years and opened my West Palm Beach office in 2015.

I am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors(NBCC), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT). In addition, I am a member and former chapter-president of Chi Sigma Iota, an international association committed to the pursuit of excellence in the field of counseling. I am nationally certified as a Counselor and Clinical Mental Health Counselor and licensed by the states of CT and FL.

I love what I do. My "brand" is creating the best therapeutic relationship I can with each client. A strong counseling relationship means connecting on a human level. I prefer sessions to be conversational while still maintaining professionalism. I am non-judgmental and truly care. Our partnership will provide a strong foundation so you can try new things, change old habits, and start over again.
